Day 96

DS rehearsing his dance for Irish.

Day 95

Logo of my local independant bookseller, on a bookmark. The book that's background is The Language of Bees by Laurie R King.

Day 94

Blueberry pancake batter. DS liked them, DD not so much. I think she prefers chocolate chip.

Day 93

After rehearsing their tap dance, the girls watch a ballet class's rehearsal.

Day 92

The marvelous shelf o' snacks, where all the yummy treats are stored.

Day 91

Ooops! For the first time, I missed taking a picture! You get a makeup picture taken early the morning of the 26th. Since we played Munchkin, here is the Munchkin bobblehead guy.

Day 90

DS getting his books signed by author Deborah Wiles. He participated in a writing workshop run by her, and really seemed to enjoy it. He's also going to go to a kids book club meeting to discuss her book The Aurora County All-Stars.

Day 89

This is the project that got me seriously back into cross stitching. I'd played around with it as a teenager, and fiddled with it a little after DS was born. When this came out though, I really wanted to do it. It probably took me over a year, off and on, but I finished it. And I'd become addicted to stitching.

Day 88

A statue at the park where I've started to go walking every day.

Day 87

I don't know what these flowers are, but they're pretty!

Day 86

This pink stuffed doggie lives on top of DD's dollhouse shaped bookcase. Right now he's (I think of it as he even though it's pink!) wearing the flower headpiece that came with a recital costume a year or two ago.

Day 85

The silver maple tree has leaves! It's always the last to start leafing out in the spring.

Day 84

Ready for Girl Scout Badge Day to start at Red Top Mountain State Park. The shirt they gave her was quite a bit too big, but she can grow into it.

Day 83

This has got to be the ugliest Spongebob I've ever seen. It was set up in a parking lot downtown for a family fun day.

Day 82

Enjoying a milkshake on a nice day.

Day 81

Playground of the new Primrose school being built a few miles from me.

Day 80

I had not intended to share this picture, but it ended up being the only one I took all day. Mint masques are fun. I look like I'm trying to start a rival to Blue Man Group. Go Green Girl Group! LOL.

Day 79

Oops, I forgot to flip this photo before I uploaded it! Recital costumes! The pink and blue is for ballet, and the blue and black polka dot is for tap. Irish costume to come on Thursday.

Day 78

A mini battle set up on DS's bookshelf. I think a couple of the figures are ones he got at Kings Mountain.

Day 77

Today was DH's birthday. We (well, not me, but everybody else) had lunch at Sticky Fingers in Greenville yesterday, since he wanted their ribs for his birthday. Today we decided we wanted to eat at Ted's Montana Grill, so we used his birthday as an excuse. Two birthday meals for DH! :) He had a bison steak, DS had a bison burger, DD had bison meatloaf, and I had veggies. Afterward, we had ice cream at the Coldstone next door. I've decided that I don't like them as much as I do Bruster's, which is good, since they are a lot pricier.

Day 76

We stopped at Kings Mountain National Military Park on our way to Charlotte. At that point we saw the movie and walked the battlefield trail. We also picked up a Junior Ranger booklet for the kids to do. We didn't have time for them to finish it then, so we stopped back by on our way home for them to finish up. They earned certificates, badges, and water bottles. More importantly, they had fun, and learned something.

Day 75

A robin sits on a monument at the Settlers Cemetery Park. It's the oldest cemetery in Charlotte, with graves dating back to 1776.

Day 74

Discovery Place was probably the kids' favorite thing in Charlotte. We went three times (free admission with our Fernbank membership, yay!). This is on our second visit. They loved the Gizmotron and had to be pried away from it. The thing moves little plastic pellets around. DS is the one in the ballcap. DD is at the far right, partially obscured.

Day 73

A scrimshaw on a whale's tooth of George III, done about 1759. The reverse of the tooth has a ship on it, as you can see in the mirror. This was at the Charlotte Museum of History.

Day 72

Statue of Queen Charlotte outside the Trade Center in Charlotte. This isn't the statue that was pictured in the official visitors guide. That one was kind of scary looking, at least in the photo, and I never saw it in person. This one was much nicer, I think.

Day 71

The falls at Falls Park in Greenville.

Saturday, April 04, 2009

Day 70

Leaving Georgia and heading into South Carolina on our way to Greenville, and then to Charlotte NC.

Friday, April 03, 2009

Day 69

Closeup of my progress on Mirabilia's Stargazer. Note the empty spaces where beads should be. I started with a brand new package, and still ran out. It was not noted on the chart that I'd need two packs of these particular beads. Aaargh!

Day 68

The inside of a tulip. I don't really care for the yellow tulips, but we inherited them from the previous owners. I'd like some red ones, or some black ones, but I keep forgetting to order bulbs at the proper time. Same goes for daffodils, I want some white and pink ones, but can't remember to order the bulbs.

Day 67

Dogwood blossoms from my front yard. We used to have two dogwoods but one died. The remaining dogwood is one of the two trees I actually like in our yard. The other is a silver maple that fell over, but resurrected itself from the stump.
