Day 35

Day 34

It's all DH's fault. I resisted reading this series for a long time, thinking they couldn't be as great as everyone seemed to think. DH listened to them on audio book and really liked them. He mentioned to me a minor character, Lord John, who had spinoff books. Those sounded interesting to me, so I picked up the first one a couple of months ago and liked it. This month, I got the urge to read about him again, so I finished off the other two books about him, and then gave in and read Outlander. I'm hooked, y'all. I'm starting book two, Dragonfly in Amber soon. I'll probably finish off the whole series in March.

Day 33

A new Dr Pepper flavor. Not quite as good as last year's chocolate cherry, but just about. I just wish it came in a caffeine free version.

Day 32

This fellow is painted on the wall of DD's room. He was there when we moved in, along with another monkey in a tree and an elephant. Made it easy to determine which room would be hers, LOL.

Day 31

We don't observe Lent, but we had pancakes for Shrove Tuesday/Pancake Tuesday anyway. These are organic oatmeal pancakes with peach compote.

Day 30

Day 29

DD is proud of finishing her French Country Rabbit. :) She really is a good stitcher. I have to help her start and finish her threads, and sometimes help her count, but mostly she does it herself.

Day 28

DD receiving the brown belt she just earned at her Tai Kwon Do belt test. She did really well, and we and her teacher are proud of her!

Day 27

I had intended to post a picture from the Diary of a Wimpy Kid party DS went to at our local bookstore. I took this one just being silly at dinner afterward, and loved the way it came out. I didn't realize when I took it that I'd capture his shadow like that.

Day 26

DS and DD in their 3D glasses after seeing Coraline. DD is really not as unhappy as she looks! In fact, she liked the movie better than her brother and I did.

Day 25

It was a wet, misty day here. I loved the way this tree looked against the fog.

Day 24

The Carter Presidential Center. We went there to see an exhibit on Abraham Lincoln. It was okay, but of course nothing as impressive as what we saw at the Lincoln museum in Springfield a couple of years ago.

This was one of those "oops, I haven't taken a picture yet today and it's almost bedtime!" pictures. A picture DD drew of the Easter Bunny. I was never scared of the Easter Bunny until now...

Day 21

The first flower of Spring. There are more daffodil buds, so pretty soon there should be a lot of them around.

Day 20

Stash! I received an order today, and I also breezed by the local store. The silks are for Jeannette Douglas's Once Upon a Tree which is a four part series running in Just Cross Stitch magazine. The beads are for a couple of Dragon Dreams and Teresa Wentzler patterns.

Day 19

This is an afghan my grandmother crocheted and gave to us. The colors aren't something I would have been likely to choose for myself, but I love them.

Day 18

DD at a Valentine tea party held by a local independent bookstore. She had a blast, and liked everything she was served except the cheesecake. We attended a Fancy Nancy themed party a few months ago at this same bookstore, and we will definitely attend any future ones. BTW, I apologize for the red eye. For some reason, the red eye fixer in my software wouldn't fix it.

Day 17

This is a motif from wallpaper at the Flying Biscuit Cafe. They have yummy scrambled tofu, and really good french toast, among other things. I'm not really fond of their biscuits, though the cranberry apple butter they serve with them is excellent.

Day 15

Our camera is very ancient. It's at least 8 years old. So I finally broke down and bought a new one. I've known which one I wanted for months. It's a Canon Powershot Elph. It's much smaller than the old one, which weighed a ton. I can carry this one in my purse and not even tell it's there. The camera bag is a Vera Bradley Tech Case in the Night Owl print.

Day 14

New tap shoes! DS starts tap lessons on Monday, so I took him today to buy shoes. The place where we go is really good with fitting shoes, and these are not too big, but with room to grow. I have informed him he is not allowed to outgrow them for at least a year, LOL.

Day 13

This is a painting done by my late father in law. He was a professor of art, and according to my husband, fairly well known for his paintings. This one is not his usual style at all, but I fell in love with it the first time I saw it hanging in their basement. The painting apparently actually belonged to my husband, so eventually (a couple of years later, I think) it came home with us. It is mine now, and definitely my favorite of my father in law's paintings.

Day 12

The kids and I went for ice cream today. Bruster's has the best ice cream around. Yummy flavors, and some of them change daily. The feature flavors for February are various incarnations of cherry. I was hoping for Black Forest or Chocolate Cherry Chunk. They didn't have those, but the plain cherry was good. DS had Cherry Cobbler ice cream, and he liked it. It looked pretty good. DD had Oreo. She wanted Fudgey Cheesecake, but there wasn't enough left of that for a full scoop, so they let her have the little that was left on top of her scoop of Oreo. That made her a very happy camper!

Day 11

Say hi to the stuffies that live at the top of my computer desk. Many of them were gifts. One is a Butterbug puppet from the books of Lois McMaster Bujold, signed by Lois. Those aren't made anymore. The kitty is associated with a friend who passed away a few years ago. I need to rearrange them so they aren't so crowded!

Day 10

DD received a gift of a Twilight Turtle. It projects several constellations and the moon on the ceiling. You can even choose from three different light colors. It comes with a little booklet with the story of Twilight Turtle and a guide to identifying the constellations.

Feburary 2- Day 9

One of my favorite meals at the moment. A Portabella Cap sandwich (sans cheese), sweet potato fries, diet Dr Pepper, and a small chocolate banana shake for dessert, from Canyon's Burger Company. You can see DH's hands in the background.

Feburary 1- Day 8

This is the mug my father bought me at the Terracotta Warriors exhibit. Thanks Dad! I loved this one because of the colors of the dragons. I'm not sure yet if I'll actually drink from it. I'm afraid the gold will come off with normal use and washing. This wasn't all we brought home, by the way. Between this and the King Tut exhibit we also saw that day, we made quite a haul.
